The Charities

After quite a bit of thinking which organisation to raise money for this year, I have decided on 2 charities, Diabetes UK and Marie Curie Trust

I have gone with both these charities because they both mean something to me as my family has been effected by both.

These charities not only support the people directly effected, but help support the families and carers involved.

I am using Virgin Money Giving to help raise money for both the charities

Diabetes UK is the charity for people with diabetes, their family, friends and carers. Our mission is to improve the lives of people with the condition and work towards a future without diabetes.

We are one of the largest patient organisations in Europe. We stand up for the interests of people with diabetes by campaigning for better standards of care. We are the largest funder in the UK of research into better treatments for diabetes and the search for a cure. We provide practical support and information and safety-net services to help people manage their diabetes. You can read more information about these services here.

Marie Curie Cancer Care provides high quality nursing, totally free, to give people with terminal cancer and other illnesses the choice of dying at home, supported by their families. It runs nine Marie Curie Hospices across the UK offering free specialist care for patients and support for families. The charity conducts palliative care research to find better ways of caring for terminally ill people and also funds scientists who investigate the causes and treatments of cancer.

If you would like to support me on my ride, you can do so at Virgin Money Giving. All support is greatly appreciated.
