All the rest
The Bike
As much as I love riding my trusty single speed for commuting, I am going to be doing this ride on my normal road bike. Funnily, I don’t really have a picture of it, but it is made by EMC2, set up by a guy who used to race in Le Tour and has links to the legendary Eddy Merckz
In lieu of a shot of my bike I plan to do the ride on I am going to add a gratuitous shot of my singlespeed, just because I love riding it so much.
My trusty commuting steed
The Gear
For the ride, I am planning to travel light and stay in hostels/B&B’s along the way. This will thankfully cut down on the amount of gear I need to take.
To help out I am going to send stuff to various points along the way, things like clean riding gear and top-ups for food and spares.
As for the gear I need to carry on a day-by-day basis, I am still tossing up between carrying a pack or getting a bag that attaches to the seat post, which I have seen a few around. The backpack I currently use for commuting is actually pretty good and well ventilated back.
List of gear I intend to carry, this doubles as a check list for me
- Pump
- Bike tools
- First Aid Kit
- Patch Kit
- Spare tyres
- Energy bars and gels
- Camera
- Cellphone
- Maps
- Camelback for water
- Spare clothes for evening
- Spare riding clothes
- Riding Jacket (hope to not need it too much)
As you can see I still have a bit of work to do here, but like most things, it will all come out in the wash.
